A stockable item, usually one per SKU, linked to product variants. Rows carry the stock per location; get with include levels lists the location levels (stocked, incoming, reserved and available quantities).

The inventory items each product variant draws from, with the quantity one unit of the variant consumes. One row per variant, with its product title, handle and SKU. The way to find stock by product name: pass q with the name, handle or SKU the merchant gave, then read the stock of the inventory_item_id with inventory_item_get and include levels. The search is loose, so a row is the merchant's product only when its product_title, handle or SKU is what they named.

Create an inventory item, optionally with its first stock levels.

Link it to a product variant with variant_inventory_link. location_levels set the stock per location right away.

inventory_item_deleteCopy Anchor Link

Delete a whole inventory item: its stock rows at every location go with it, and every variant linked to it stops tracking stock.

Only when the merchant asks to delete the inventory item itself. To remove its stock row at one location ("delete the stock row", "remove it from this warehouse") use inventory_level_delete; to zero the stock use inventory_level_set.

Change the details of an inventory item. Stock quantities go through inventory_level_set.

inventory_level_deleteCopy Anchor Link

Remove the stock row of one inventory item at one stock location, so the item is no longer stocked there.

The tool for "delete the stock row", "remove it from this warehouse" or "stop stocking it here". The inventory item, its rows at other locations and its variant links stay. Refused while the row holds reserved stock.

inventory_level_setCopy Anchor Link

Set the stocked and incoming quantity of inventory items at locations.

Creates the level when the item has none at the location, otherwise changes it. Send many levels at once for bulk stock updates. Quantities you leave out stay as they are. A dry run reports which levels would be created and which changed.

Make a variant draw its stock from an inventory item.

required_quantity is how many units of the item one unit of the variant consumes, 1 by default. Linking again changes the quantity. Read the current links with variant_inventory_list.
