# Get started (/themes/get-started)

You need a Poltura store where you can edit the online store's theme.

## Open the code editor [#open-the-code-editor]

In the admin, open **Online store → Themes** and choose **Edit in code editor** on the theme you want to change. The
editor works on the theme's draft, so the live storefront does not change.

## Create a section [#create-a-section]

Open the command palette (Cmd+Shift+P on a Mac, Ctrl+Shift+P elsewhere), run **Theme: New Section…** and name it
`usp-strip`. The editor writes `src/sections/usp-strip.tsx` with a working starter and checks it on save.

## Place it [#place-it]

In the admin, choose **Customize** on the theme. On the home page choose **Add section** and add your section
from the picker. It renders on the canvas, and its settings and style controls are in the inspector.

Nothing is live until you publish the draft.

## Work in files instead [#work-in-files-instead]

With the CLI you can start from the starter theme and check it locally. (Not published to npm yet.)

```bash
poltura theme init my-theme --name "My theme"
poltura theme check my-theme
```
